The town of Mukteshwar, at an altitude of 2015 metres from sea level, is situated over a horse saddle shaped ridge of a mountain.
The first hill station set up by the British in 1815, today Mukteshwar is wellconnected by air, rail and road. While the nearest airport to Mukteshwar is at Pantnagar, about 127 kms from Mukteshwar; the nearest railway station is at Kathgodam, which is connected by rail directly with Delhi, the capital of India, Lucknow, the capital of the state of Uttar Pradesh and Calcutta.
